Building real business value starts with consistent, predictable revenue. I learned this the hard way (like most of us) in my first business.

As a political consultant, my revenue was directly tied to the election cycle. (Ouch!) Becoming a lobbyist helped me even out my revenue, because deals were being made every day.

And, because I learned lots of hard lessons in that first business, I built my consultancy over the past 20 years with great intention...

In my first business, those hard lessons came with lots of emotional ups and downs. I stumbled when it came to pricing, selling, building a revenue engine, effective communication, and the keystone of building value.

I relied too much on luck and hope. I quickly learned that ‘hope’ is not a strategy.

While the keystone is building value, the cornerstone is a business model that is built on consistent, predictable revenue:

In my experience, women don't retire; they transition into a new stage of purpose and impact. Whether you are 40 or 60, the idea of retirement may not appeal to you. Just because you can retire doesn’t mean you’ll want to.
