Milestone celebrations are pretty common. Birthday parties. Coming-of Age parties. Wedding anniversaries. Graduations. Business Anniversaries. As humans, we are obsessed with marking the passage of time. In a sense, it indicates progress and advancement.
No strategy survives the realities of execution untouched. No matter how sound the basis for a strategy appears or how much it is vetted, everything discussed about the strategy during the strategic planning process remains theory and speculation until it is put to the test in the real world.
As an astute student of productivity, my quest for work-life balance started in college. I was determined to be that person who could get good grades, have a social life, exercise, and be on committees of campus organizations. Oh, and work 12 to 15 hours a week.
