Interview Patty

What attitudes should be present in a woman entrepreneur?

26-Mar-2014Be Proactive, Not Reactive.

Life is full of distractions that make it harder to focus during rough times. Personal life, work, health concerns, business, family, children, etc. It all demands your attention. You must avoid the tendency to settle into rote practices with regard to your business. Try to set aside quiet time to contemplate your initial focus and to reinforce your reasons for certain goals. You must keep moving forward proactive way and not get into simply reacting.

Third thing you need to consider to get a loan.

23-Mar-2014Know what you need and prove you'll use it well.

Being able to explain to a lender the exact proposed amount and purpose of your loan is perhaps the most important factor in getting approved, next to proving financially stability. Vague loan requests often make a lender wary, so being prepared with specific information can only help you in the loan application process. The woman business owner should understand not only how much funds are needed, and for what, but that the funds are very likely to produce results based on their knowledge and experience. Be prepared with full financial information and current debt service for your business. Know specifically what your request is for and what benefit it will bring your company.

Tip number 2 to Establish Your Credibility for Business.

25-Mar-2014Establish Credibility in Your Product.

Don’t strain your credibility by being willing to sell just anything. The products and services you sell should be those you are willing to put your name and face behind. In fact, in a video presentation, author, hedge-fund manager and entrepreneur James Altucher talks about the most important thing you as an entrepreneur must learn how to sell, yourself. Consider selling “freemium” versions of your product to demonstrate the quality to your customers. They can buy enhanced versions of your products and services, if they like what you are offering for free.

Second thing you need to consider to get a loan.

22-Mar-2014Seek out women-specific lending programs.

No matter where they apply for a loan, female entrepreneurs face a lot of competition. However, some lenders have implemented loan programs dedicated to women-owned businesses to make it a little easier for these business owners to receive funding. We've historically seen women underrepresented with co-ed funds, and the emergence of funds that are earmarked specifically for women is a new and exciting trend. Apply for general loans and women-centric programs simultaneously to increase your chances of receiving the money.

Tip number 1 to Establish Your Credibility for Business.

24-Mar-2014Establish Credibility on Your Website

Think of your website as a kind of online handshake. It’s a way people instantly assess you and your business. Many people will get their first and most lasting impression of your business from what they find there. This isn’t necessarily about your website’s design or responsiveness (though those things certainly are important.) It’s about the kind of message your website sends about you and your business. The Stanford Web Credibility Research project at Stanford’s Persuasive Technology Lab has created these 10 guidelines for establishing credibility with your website. They include listing third-party certifications and associations, showing that there’s a real organization behind the website, making your website easy to use, allowing people to contact you easily and more.

4. - Running a business well is different than being good at a trade or profession.

050-4-Running-a-business7 Tips to Successfully Grow Your Business

I have often said that just because someone is good in PR, it doesn't mean they will be good at running a PR agency. The same is true for any profession. Growing a successful business is all about having a good business mind, combined with a strong skillset in your particular area of expertise. The behind-the-scenes side of business--such as process, people management, billing and operations--are critical to business success. I have seen a number of very smart people get into business only to ultimately fail because they didn't look at their business through the lens of operational success, and instead focused solely on being good at their profession.
