Do your market research BEFORE you start your business – I learnt this one the hard way when first starting my business and being so keen and eager to follow my passion, I neglected to do the research and find out if it was what people wanted, or more importantly what people were willing to pay money for. This cost me many months and a lot of money in the early stages.
