Five Things You Should Include on a Business Card

Business Cards Are the Most Basic Tools in Business Circles

1. - Quality - First impressions aren't just for people. Before anyone ever looks at the information on your business card, they begin to form an opinion. Is the card on professional stock? Are the edges perforated? Is the ink smudged or runny? No matter how well-designed your card is, or how good your services are, a business card that is unprofessional in appearance is a strike against you before you even get that first phone call or e-mail.
2. - Name - Mystery business cards, which have no name or business listed, will usually end up in the trash. A business card has to have some statement of who it is for, either an individual or a business name, for contact and filing purposes.

3. - Title - A business card must have some sort of indication of what it is you do. This can be your position in the company, your talents, or a short description of the services your company offers. Without this, the card is another version of the dreaded mystery card, with a name and no mention of what it is you do, and is probably bound for the trash.
4. - Contact Information - A business card must include some way for people to contact you. The specifics can vary according to the situation, and need not have every possible way of contacting you, from phone to e-mail to every possible social networking site, but you should show yourself as easily contacted through traditional methods, as well as any particularly relevant social network, such as LinkedIn or Twitter.
5. - White Space - While there may be many things you'd ideally like to put on your business card, too much text will make it look cluttered and unprofessional. White space helps text appear cleaner and readable. Picture the spiral notebook of a serial killer, packed with handwritten text from edge to edge, with no paragraph breaks or blank space. Don't hand potential clients the business card equivalent of that.
