The SBA's grants generally are available to non-profit organizations,
intermediary lending institutions and state and local governments that provide small business management, technical or financial assistance.
If your small business is related to scientific and technology research and development, look for federal grant programs on the government's grants website or on the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance website.
Other Grants
Grants are available through local and state programs, non-profit organizations and other entities. Some examples of businesses that might qualify for such grants include child-care centers with plans to expand or companies that create energy-efficient technology or develop marketing campaigns for tourism. Typically, you must match any funds you receive or use other financing means in conjunction with the grant.
Loans
If you are having a difficult time finding a grant that meets your needs, loan programs provided by the SBA, a commercial bank or a lending institution might be an alternative.
