Since all entrepreneurs by nature strive to be completely independent, getting a secure job just is not an option. Entrepreneurs have a desire to live life on their terms, and not have their time dictated by anyone or anything outside themselves. Along with this choice comes several fears that must be overcome to achieve the lifestyle that an entrepreneur seeks.
I’ve listed 5 deadly fears that all entrepreneurs face. After overcoming these fears, success just becomes a matter of consistently taking action towards building the life of your dreams.
1. Uncertainty / fear of the unknown
All entrepreneurs realise, especially when beginning their entrepreneurial journey, that unlike having a job, their income is solely dependent on their performance. This creates a feeling of uncertainty with regard to when their next payslip will arrive and how big it will be.
2. Insecurity / self-doubt
Self doubt and the feeling of insecurity is a natural response to any unfamiliar situation. When we allow self-doubt to dominate our psyche, it leads to hesitation, which can lead to complete immobility.
3. Criticism from others
As far as we can remember, we’ve all be criticised our entire lives from our parents that wanted to protect us from our own naivete, from the teacher that told us to stop misbehaving in class, to the boss at work that said we screwed something up.
4. Steep learning curve: Training / education
All entrepreneurs know that in order to take action confidently, they must educate themselves on how to have the correct mindset and how to be the best they can in their chosen field.
5. Lack of resources / costs:
It’s always good to remember that where there’s a will, there’s a way. From getting a small business loan, holding a fund-raising event, or just bootstrapping by using low-cost creative techniques to get off the ground. The great thing is that there are many opportunities to create or join a business with very little capital.
