Your Image is Your Brand

Business Management Consultant

A headshot is not an expense. Get that out of your head right now.

Professional corporate headshots are an investment

that have a positive return because of their use for so many marketing vehicles. From your LinkedIn profile to your business cards a proper headshot demonstrates the worth you believe your brand represents. If you are profiled in an article, a sponsor of an event, serving as a guest speaker, writing a press release or featured in a web-site profile, all these avenues are worthy of a proper headshot.

Below are some tips that will help you get the biggest bang for your investment.

How to Approach Clothing and Jewelry

1. - Avoid busy patterns in your apparel. Solid-color blouses, shirts and ties make for a solid photo. Turtlenecks should be avoided. Patterns tend to take away from your face, can become blurry or wavy and they don’t photograph well.

2. - If you have blue, green or hazel eyes, choose shirts in this color pallet: blue or green. If you have brown or dark eyes choose shirts in this color pallet: red, purple and blue shirts. Consider this when choosing accessories such as ties as well. Choosing the right colors can enhance the color of your eyes.

3. - Business suits that are solid black or navy blue coordinate well with the color pallets mentioned above. Tailor your suits for the best fit for full body profiles.

4. - If you are a woman who is well endowed, do not wear a V-neck blouse. Choose a higher neckline, while avoiding turtlenecks.

5. - Do not limit your photo shoot to only one style or color blouse or shirt. Sometimes, the clothing that presents well in person does not photograph well. Bring a mixture of blouse styles to wear with or without a jacket. For men, bring a mixture of polo shirts and button down shirts with a few tie options. Men can also try a cardigan or sweater vest to complement their looks.

6. - Minimal jewelry is all you need to keep yourself elegant and professional. Large jewelry can look distorted or blurry in photo and distract the viewer from your face.
